Cars

I love cars! I love cars! I love cars!

My father worked in the automotive industry. When I was growing up he was the parts manager at the local Nissan/Lincoln/Mercury dealership. I use to spend time there helping out as a kid doing inventory (but mostly running around in the atic with the parts). My grandfather owned a small old service station that I spent every Saturday at where I played and helped pump gas. It had a single bay garage where my grandfather was the local guy to see about getting you car fixed. So basicly I spent a lot of time around cars growing up. How I ended up in computers and not cars I’ll never know.

Growing up I became especially attached to Z cars. My dad would get an old Z from an auction and fix it up and my mom would always end up driving it. When I was in high school the new stle 300ZX came out, and I had to have one (even though my 84 Maxima wasn’t a bad ride). It would be several years till I finally got one but before then I picked up a 1977 280Z for $300. I was 19 years old and dad and I reworked that car from top to bottom. I regret I don’t have any pictures of it. Dad had all of the original service manuals and big fold out wiring diagrams for it.
Not but a few months later after I moved out of my parents house I saw a red 1984 300ZX turbo. It had just been traded in and the dealership hadn’t had a chance to clean it up or anything. I convinced them to let me pay what the gave as a trade value which was $2000. Little did I know it was going to be the nightmare money pit of all time. It was sweet and in great condition appearance wise. Mechanically though it was just one problem after another.
I drove it for a couple of years until I got a 1990 300ZX coupe. Not able to keep up thee cars (I also had a 99 Mitsubishi Galant) I sold the 280 (regretfully).
